POP-UP SOLAR 2.4 KW POWER PLANT SYSTEM (Pop-up 2.4 kw SPS)

The Pop-up Solar 2.4 kW power plant system is made as a fully integrated system that folds out as a photovoltaic power station. The system is made of metal and with wood covered cabin, photovoltaic panels that fold to the one system, metal frame and plywood covered floors and metal frame system.

Photovoltaic system consists of 2.4 kW power solar panels, off grid or hybrid off/on grid inverter (3-5 kW power, 1 or 3 phases), Lithium battery pack (5-10 kWh capacity). All parts are placed in the box. Full description of every element will be added to the full documentation. The elements can be chosen by clients and can be configured differently according to the clients needs.

The Folded Pop-up 2.4 kW power plant system is 2.4 m width, around 1 length and up to 2.2 height. Unfolded and ready to use system is 2.4 m width, around 5.8 m length and up to 2.95 m height. The frame is made of hot zinc coated steel, vacuum impregnated wood and water resistant plywood.

Pop-up 2.4 kW SPS features:

Power plant assemble

Power plant assembly should be made as follow:

Proper orientation: Solar panels must be oriented to the South for the maximum effectiveness. The solar panels are angled 25 degrees.

  • Unload from truck or trailer. For load and unload there are two possibilities: forklift possibility grabbing underfloor metal frame or with crane by lifting on by hanging holes on the roof.
  • The power plant must be placed on the hard even surface. If the surface is not hard (for example grass) it must be placed some wide tiles or other hard materials under the frame legs. 
  • Unfold the floors and fix them with extra fixes. 
  • Release the panels from the transportation position. 
  • Lift back panels up and fix them with metal legs to the floor. Release the second panels` frame and open it like a book. Fix the second panels` frame with extra 4 legs made of tubes. Add extra metal rope lines and tight them.
  • Lift front panels up and fix two legs to the sides. Open side metal frames and lift the front panels up and fix the legs to the opened side frames. Fix the side frames to the floor.
  • Tight all nuts and bolts. 
  • Place the weight on the front floors and on the back floors. It should be around  400-500 kg weight on front floors and around 200-250 kg weight on back floors. The wind resistance was calculated on 30 m/s wind blowing from the North. If the wind is stronger, it should be placed more weight. The weight could be: Sand barrels, concrete bricks or blocks and other long lasting weight. Weight is not added to the plant. 
  • Ground the solar plant. Ground points are on the main box frame. Ground and measure the resistivity. (This should be done by electricians and according to local laws). 
  • Solar systems outputs must be connected to the house or other grid.

Safety requirements:

  • The Solar power plant system must be grounded for long term use. The ground must be made according to local rules and restrictions. Please, advice with your local electrician. 
  • During the very strong wind (over 30 m/s) fold down the front panel or add extra weight load in on the front and back floors (Add around extra 400-500 kg on front floors and plus 200-250 kg on back floors for wind up to 40 m/s). 
  • Fold down the front panel during the winter in high snow areas or fold down all the SPS during the winter. There should NOT BE over 5 cm of snow on the panels. Please, remove the snow if it is more. You can do this by using a brush.

SPS possible solutions

ON-Grid system – this solution is suitable for houses, business or other users if they are able to give all produced electricity to the grid and get it back when they need. The house or other user always has electricity. Must be an agreement with the grid operator.

HARD Hybrid system – similar solution as On-Grid system, but here system has extra battery pack. Produced electricity is used or loaded to the battery and if it produces even more it goes to the grid. Used electricity first comes from the solar system, then if it is too low power or night time electricity comes from the battery. If the battery goes low, then electricity comes from the grid. This is the most expensive but most effective system. The house or other user always has electricity. Must be the agreement with the grid operator. Hard Hybrid systems can be used as SOFT hybrid systems as well. HARD Hybrid systems can be used as OFF-Grid systems as well.

SOFT Hybrid system – it is a more simple system then Hard hybrid. Soft hybrid systems have extra batteries as well, but do not give electricity to the grid. So it gives electricity primarily from the panels when it is sunny day, during the night or cloudy days from the battery and if the battery is low, then electricity comes from the grid. The house or other user always has electricity. Do not need the agreement with the grid operator. SOFT Hybrid systems CAN NOT be used as HARD Hybrid systems. SOFT Hybrid systems can be used as OFF-Grid systems as well.

OFF-Grid system – is the simplest independent electricity system. It has batteries and it would be good to get as big a battery as possible. The solar power goes directly to the appliance or to the battery. If there is more power than used and the battery is full, then solar power is lost. If no sun and battery are low – then no electricity power at all. The only one system for the remote areas, for short term use (for rent purposes). Do not need the agreement with the grid operator. OFF-Grid systems CAN NOT be used as any Hybrid systems.

Battery options

Lithium batteries – best for long term use, it has the most cycles rate, low weight and good service in cold conditions. Best for homes, business long term run.

Acid batteries – old school batteries which weigh much more are bigger than lithium batteries. (In the SPS system weight is ok, because it adds some weight and saves from very strong winds). Not so good in cold conditions, in winter time (it loses capacity). These batteries have much lower cycle rates. Good for warm regions, for short term low budget systems (war or disasters zones, rent).

 

One or three phase system

One phase system – most simple and economic system, that should be used for any short term uses for Soft hybrid and Off grid systems. This system is not good for On grid and Hard hybrid systems if the house, business or other user already has a three phase grid.

Three phase system – more expensive and with more specific hardware. This system is necessary only for ON grid and Hard hybrid systems and only if the user already has a 3 phase system in the house or other appliance. Three phase system is good for bigger solar systems than 3 kW power (It can work with the Pop-up Solar 4.8 kW Power plant System. As well, a 3 phase system can be installed on ON grid Pop-up Solar 2.4 kW Power plant System).

SPS for short term rent should be a Soft Hybrid system with one phase electricity. It would have hybrid inverter 3 kW power, 2.4 kW power solar panels, 5 kWh capacity Lithium Phosphate (lifepo4) batteries or Acid AGM batteries.

SPS for long term rent should be a Soft Hybrid system with one phase electricity. It would have hybrid inverter 3 kW power, 2.4 kW power solar panels, 10 kWh capacity Lithium Phosphate (lifepo4) batteries.

SPS should be with OFF – Grid 3 kW power inverter, 2.4 kW power solar panels and 20 kWh capacity Lithium Phosphate (lifepo4) batteries.

 

Pop-up Solar 2.4 kW Power plant System for small house or business with grid electricity option.

SPS should be ON – grid or HARD Hybrid 3 kW power inverter, 2.4 kW power solar panels and without or with 5 capacity Lithium Phosphate (lifepo4) batteries or Acid AGM batteries.
